Transformational Breathwork - Rebirthing
"Breathing in, I calm body and mind. Breathing out I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is the only moment." Thich Nhat Hanh
Conscious breathing allows us to deeply oxygenate our body. The practice of breathwork aims to release energetic blockages, whist it deeply rejuvenates the body.
Transformational breathwork is based on the work of Leonard Orr as developed by the Sundoor school of transpersonal education, USA. Orr observed that when we breathe normally, there is typically a pause between our breaths, however, when we experiece a trauma or shock, we hold our breath in our upper chest. This held breath, carries the charge of the shock and suppressed emotions. In transformational breathwork, intense breathing is employed to release the shock and trauma held in our tissues.
This therapy is used to be called rebirthing, as in some cases, people experienced release from birth trauma. Orr discovered that birth can be a traumatic experience that can leave tension in the body and establish behavioural patterns for later life. Transformational breathwork, especially when conducted in a pool of water, can heal and release such trauma and help people rebirth themselves again in a much more nurturing way, replacing the old birth memory in our subconsious, with a pleasant rebirthing experience.
Breathwork may be practiced at your own home, or you could book a group breathwork practice.
